The Annual Offshore Support Journal has shortlisted The Switch EBL for its Environmental Award 2020.
The Switch Electronic Bus Link (EBL) was selected as one of the finalists after being successfully used on the North Sea Giant (North Sea Shipping) construction vessel battery hybrid upgrade project. The high-speed electronic bus link technology enables the vessel to operate in DP3 mode and run with a reduced number of generators sets, saving running hours and cutting back on maintenance.
This approach with EBL technology allows the vessel to save a significant amount of fuel, thanks to the more efficient power system. It also reduces emissions, while creating more reliable and safer system performance.
