On December 7, Asbjørn Halsebakke, Manager Technical Solutions, Marine at Yaskawa Environmental Energy / The Switch, was a guest speaker at Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo USA & Canada Virtual ‘Live.’
Asbjørn presented new concepts for powering electric vessels and his views of how the world can become a better place to pass on to future generations.
How are we prepared for the future? How are we designing ships that can comply with more stringent regulations? Is your vessel ready for them?
Asbjørn shows how it is possible to build a ship today that fulfills current regulations as well as likely future environmental changes. Using power distribution blocks around an innovative DC-Hub, electronic bus link breaker and electronic DC breaker, ships can switch from AC to DC for better fuel and cost savings. This offers unrivaled reliability and flexibility to run on any future power source.
“I’m very proud of this work, and it’s very close to my heart. For me, it’s very important that I’m working with something that makes the world a better place to live. When I go home to my daughter, I can say, ‘Yes – Daddy is trying to do something to change the world – and make the world a better place for you to live in.’”
