Dear friends,
The year is approaching its end, but it has been very eventful. We have returned to our strong growth path. The hard work with you – our customers, partners and other stakeholders – has turned into solid business. In many cases, this business has been the result of years of close development and cooperation.
Market entry takes time. We are not just taking market share, but actually bringing new and previously not used technology to the market. We want to grow with customers that are also driven to advance the world with electrical drive trains.
We have reached great achievements by bringing permanent magnet machine technology and full-power converters to wind turbines where they have become standard solutions in larger powers. In paper machines vacuum pumps, our high-speed technology has become mainstream, state-of-the-art technology. In shaft generators, permanent magnet technology has taken the industry by storm. This has been achieved by passionate people that are willing to work hard to turn their vision of better drive trains into business.
It’s been a long and windy road for The Switch and many customers that even have had to give up before they have been able to succeed. Setbacks have only made us stronger and more competent. As always, we are ready for new businesses, which now seem to be around the corner. The acquisition of Wärtsilä’s marine drives business has opened up a new world for us. We now have in-depth knowledge of the modern hybrid and electric vessel. We are the masters of DC distribution.
During this year, The Switch turned 10 years old, and we were able to celebrate that milestone with many of you during our exhibitions and events. We have been fully supported by our owner Yaskawa, who has over 100 years of experience. We have been able to combine our forces and use each other’s strengths in very powerful way.
I would like to thank you all for the good cooperation during these years. This has been an exciting ride for me and The Switch and our entire personnel that are putting forth their best efforts – day in and day out.
J-P
