In 2010, permanent magnet generator (PMG) technology became the preferred choice for the wind power industry. The world’s top turbine manufacturers have now launched PMG and full-power converter (FPC) solutions. This transition is constantly accelerating, since grid codes are becoming more and more stringent and turbine output continuously needs to increase. The Switch has been focusing on PMGs and FPCs since founding the company in 2006. We have been working hard to bring this new technology to multi-megawatt turbines – and to make it commercially competitive.
