Repeat orders for its wind-power generation components from key Norwegian and Chinese accounts position The Switch, with its cutting-edge permanent magnet generator and full-power converter package, for a strong 2009.

The new agreement calls for The Switch to provide ScanWind with drive train packages that combine a direct-drive 4.25 MW permanent magnet generator with a full-power converter to be used in offshore wind turbine development efforts. In Asia, repeat orders from customers in China call for nearly one gigawatt of additional production, more than doubling The Switch’s production capacity overall.

The Switch, an innovative, Finland-based New Energy company, participated in Wind Power Asia 2010 with its proven portfolio of permanent magnet generators and full-power converters, the critical components for wind turbine manufacturers.

Lars Backström, Finnish Ambassador to China, visited The Switch booth to find out more about the company’s successful track record of just over 3 GW of installed wind capacity in less than three years of operation.
