Join the panel discussion to see what can be learned from the collaborative experiences of manufacturers and their customers and put your own questions to Jukka-Pekka Mäkinen and some of the industry’s leading turbine manufacturers.
See you at EWEA Offshore 2013
We are looking forward to meet you at EWEA Offshore 2013 and to discuss how we can lower the cost of energy for your turbine!
Collaboration in all
The world economy is showing signs of recovery after many years of being battered by the financial crisis. This is vital for the wind industry so that investments flow into the industry, and at the same time, transformation still continues. Announcements of investments in Dong Energy as well as Mitsubishi and Vestas joining forces are good indications that the strong players are ready to invest in the promising offshore wind.
Full-power converter production’s record in China
Using a unique model of collaboration in China, The Switch, a supplier of megawatt-class permanent magnet generator and full-power converter packages, has set up with its partner Scanfil, a global contract manufacturer and systems supplier for professional electronics, volume production of full-power wind turbine converter cabinets in record time and with exceptional quality, setting a new standard for localized production.
Better than the neighbor’s kid
Continuous improvement gives a better result in the end. This applies also for our full-power converters (FPC). The first generation FPC is not bad, nor obsolete. But the new FPC+ is better, stronger and bigger in power than its companion.
Looking at The Switch full-power converters, we are living in extremely interesting times. Just wait and see what the autumn and early winter will bring!
The Switch and YASKAWA to form strategic cooperation
The Switch, a supplier of megawatt-class permanent magnet generator and full-power converter packages for wind power and other renewable energy applications, and YASKAWA Electric Corporation, a global manufacturer of servomotors, controllers, inverters, and industrial robots, today announced they will enter into a strategic cooperation on high-power motors, generators and converters.
By combining forces, the two companies plan to leverage each other’s technology expertise, expand their product range and to strengthen their market positions in Europe and Japan. This cooperation will result in a more complete offering in product packages and eventually in bigger and better wind turbines.

China leads the world in PMG turbines
For a number of years, the technology selection for wind turbine drive trains in China had closely followed the same steps as in Europe. Just recently, Chinese companies have leapfrogged ahead to the latest and most advanced modern drive train technology.
Lower your cost of energy with an optimized PMG and FPC package
Wind turbine manufacturers, owners and operators are seeking the ideal drive train configuration to increase annual energy production, minimize total life cycle costs and fulfill the strictest grid code requirements.
The Switch Drive™ is a fully optimized permanent magnet generator and full-power converter package, enabling high reliability, better overall efficiency and fault ride-through capability.
Are you stuck with DFIG?
Let’s assume that if there would be one superior technology for a wind turbine drive train, everyone would be using it already. When it comes to technology selection, there are always lots of opinions: engineers’ conclusions, production’s preference, customer’s needs and top management’s decisions.
