Finland’s spring has warmed up to a hotter-than-usual summer up here in the North. Likewise, our fiscal year is proving to be warmer than anticipated. Thanks to several significant orders, we are heading toward a good year. And even as we move into our main summer months, our production will be running to make sure we are delivering our products according to schedule.

4,000th marine power module produced and tested in Norway
On Friday, June 14, marine power module number 4,000 was successfully produced and tested in Stord, Norway. It is now ready for delivery to the vessel with a golden nameplate.

Large drive test center construction starts in Lappeenranta
Construction of the large drive test center has now begun in Lappeenranta, Finland. The new test center will primarily be used for the testing of large drives and product development. It will also enable the serial production of large multi-megawatt-class equipment for wind and marine business units. Construction began on May 5, 2019, and the estimated date of completion is at the end of February 2020.

This year, the marine buzz was louder at Nor-Shipping in Oslo. Approximately 1,000 companies at 17 different national pavilions exhibited their latest portfolios to 35,000 delegates. It was a true meeting point for partners, services, innovations and expertise, giving an international flavor of key markets and marine clusters. The world has woken up to the environmental hazards at sea. Now more regulations are being put into effect, forcing all types of vessels to clean up their act.
