The Advanced Maritime Technology International Awards 2026, presented on June 16 at RAI Amsterdam, honored leading innovators in sustainable marine technology. Among the eight category winners announced during the ceremony, The Switch received the New Propulsion Technology of the Year award for its PMM850M permanent magnet machine, recognized for its compact design, high efficiency solution and ability to significantly reduce fuel consumption, emissions and operating costs.
“Receiving this recognition at the Advanced Maritime Technology International Awards is a proud milestone for The Switch,” explained Jussi Puranen, Product Line Director, Electric Machines at The Switch. “The maritime industry is at a critical turning point where decarbonization must match commercial reality. The PMM850M permanent magnet machine proves that we don’t have to compromise. It delivers unmatched reliability, slashes fuel consumption and significantly lowers emissions in both propulsion and power generation systems. This award validates our relentless focus on high-performance engineering as we continue to provide the global shipping industry with a concrete pathway to net-zero operations.”
On behalf of Jussi Puranen, the award was collected by Asbjørn Halsebakke, Chief Expert, Marine Concepts.
