On June 1, 2026, The Switch received a new order to deliver PMM1000M inline shaft generators for two newbuild hybrid 4,500 CEU pure car and truck carriers (PCTC). The Norwegian owner plans to operate these vessels in shallow water areas on short sea routes within Europe.
Delivery of the first permanent magnet (PM) shaft generator is scheduled for the end of December 2027 and the second in April 2028. Both PM shaft generators will be manufactured and delivered from The Switch’s facilities in China directly to the local shipyard for installation. The Switch will be responsible for commissioning and training.

Risto Ahvo, B.Sc. (Electrical Engineering), works as Sales Director at The Switch. Risto has been at The Switch in various roles since 2008, including serving as General Manager of the North American branch until 2018. After returning to Finland, Risto has led sales for marine applications. Prior to joining The Switch, Risto worked in the power electronics and telecommunications industries for over 20 years.
