New order for two PMM1000M shaft generators

New orders for PMM1000M shaft generators

On June 1, 2026, The Switch received a new order to deliver PMM1000M inline shaft generators for two newbuild hybrid 4,500 CEU pure car and truck carriers (PCTC). The Norwegian owner plans to operate these vessels in shallow water areas on short sea routes within Europe.

Delivery of the first permanent magnet (PM) shaft generator is scheduled for the end of December 2027 and the second in April 2028. Both PM shaft generators will be manufactured and delivered from The Switch’s facilities in China directly to the local shipyard for installation. The Switch will be responsible for commissioning and training.

According to Risto Ahvo, Sales Director at The Switch, “This order opens direct contact to one of our customers’ local Chinese sales and project sourcing organizations, which is an ideal way to strengthen relationships when local people have the opportunity to discuss daily topics.”
