Order for 10 new PMM2000M shaft generators

The Switch has received a new order for 10 permanent magnet direct-drive PMM2000M shaft generators for 10,300 TEU dual-fuel container vessels. Delivery is expected in Q1 2026–Q1 2027. The PMM2000M is the largest frame size in the company’s portfolio of shaft generators.

A key aspect in the design of the vessels is to use a dual-fuel main engine and generator whose Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) exceeds the benchmarks set by IMO’s Phase III emissions standards, showcasing a substantial 50% reduction. The Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) will also remain well within optimal operational ranges until 2040.

“This order allows us to consolidate our leadership position in the large container ship market,” says Wang Yang, Key Account Manager at The Switch.
