Our highlights
Diesel-electric efficiency improvements with direct-drive propulsion system on M/S Nukumi
Operating in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Great Lakes since early 2022, the M/S Nukumi isn’t just another bulk ship – it’s a benchmark for efficiency, safety, and sustainability. The ship is performing better than anticipated and is a much more efficient vessel than its predecessors in the segment.
Learn why the M/S Nukumi has been so successful in this month’s guest blog by Mattias Dombrowe from Berg Propulsion.
On-demand Masterclasses
Our exclusive three-part Masterclass series is now available on demand! In these sessions, we explore how DC technology is shaping the next generation of vessels.
From understanding why DC is often the smarter choice over AC, to ensuring system redundancy and seamless operations, and getting an inside look at cutting-edge protection devices that set new standards for safety and reliability – our experts have got you covered.
Pioneering power systems for the maritime green transition
Decarbonizing shipping is one of the greatest challenges facing the maritime industry today.
While much of the debate has focused on alternative fuels, the truth is that the future fleet will also require far more efficient and flexible energy systems. This is precisely the focus of STEESMAT – a consortium of 13 European partners, including The Switch.
Expanding uses of high-speed solid rotor technology
Developed to address the existing gap between applications running below 200 kW and those running at multi-megawatt powers, solid rotors perform better than laminated rotors at higher speeds due to the mechanical and thermal limitations of laminated rotors.
Applications requiring high power density, high reliability and robustness, as well as those operating in harsh environments, find high-speed solid rotors especially helpful.
Key takeaways from Marintec China 2025
In early December, representatives from The Switch visited Shanghai for Marintec China 2025 – one of the largest and most influential marine exhibitions in the world.
The event gathered thousands of visitors across eight massive halls, offering a clear view of where the marine industry is heading and how The Switch is positioned in the fast-evolving Chinese market.
Customer satisfaction is The Switch’s highest goal
When you buy highly technical products, you’re looking first for performance and durability – then at factors like cost, delivery times, and location. But if your project is highly customized, time-consuming, and expensive, you already know that’s not all it takes to succeed.
There’s more behind the scenes that determines whether your investment delivers the results you expect. We’ve shared what really matters for project success in our latest blog.
