Based on our solid track record and experience in wind power, we are now actively taking our advanced drive trains to various industrial applications
For this month’s industry blog, we sat down with three of our colleagues from LUT to explore our collaborative journey from initial research ideas to successful productization. Check out the interview below!
Bigger and better batteries for marine use were on display at the E&H Marine Expo in June this year. For example, battery suppliers such as Corvus Energy now offer large cruise vessels the possibility of operating a day or more in a zero-emission ocean location – a huge benefit. Shipowners and regulatory bodies are welcoming…
Combined heat and power (CHP) systems are very popular in high-rise buildings as well as industrial sites and other facilities where they produce heat and power at a reasonable cost. CHP systems can save as much as 40% energy compared with traditional ways of producing electricity and heat separately.
How can you save even more? And simultaneously increase the reliability and safety of onsite energy production and grid interconnection? There are a couple of rather easy ways to improve overall efficiency.
The Switch, a Finland-based supplier of permanent magnet generator and full-power converter packages, announced today that its first 5 MW high-speed drive trains installed in the field in China for CSIC Haizhuang Windpower Equipment Co., Ltd, a Chinese wind power equipment manufacturer, are now successfully operating.
The Switch’s utility-grade solar inverter with its rugged outdoor design and totally self-contained liquid-cooling system received certification by TÜV of Germany on June 5, 2012.
Now with CE marking and declaration of conformity to ENEL, The Sun Switch PVI 1000 solar inverter fulfills all requirements outlined in the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2006/95/EC and the Directive of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) 2004/108/EC.

Our joint webinar with Berg Propulsion covers the matching of our joint technology to design a series of low-carbon multipurpose diesel-electric vessels with a controllable-pitch single propeller for Skarv Shipping Solutions. These vessels will be far more climate-friendly than what is currently available in the European short-sea market today. The design includes an optimized engine…
The Switch has launched its next-generation full-power converter series to better serve the wind power industry with unsurpassed reliability and endurance.
Among the numerous advantages of the new converter series, reliability has been taken to a completely new level. The goal for each new converter is to continuously produce high-quality energy for the grid, without having the turbine tripping or standing still due to technical interruptions.

Runtech Systems Oy, one of our long-term customers with continuous orders for high-speed motors used in paper machine vacuum systems, has been acquired by Gardner Denver.
Gardner Denver Pulp & Paper, formerly Runtech of Finland, has placed continuous volume orders for high-speed motors and drives to be used in its paper machine vacuum systems that run at over 10,000 rpm.
German FIMA Maschinenbau GmbH, our first chemical industry reference, ordered a series of 200 kW high-speed motors for turbo blowers with a speed of nearly 11,000 rpm.
